Belagavi: A whopping ₹ 3.64 public money has been spent in the last 16 months on 12 parliamentary secretaries named by the government only to appease the disgruntled leaders. Exposing news of the huge money squandered by the government on leaders holding unimportant positions, RTI activist Bheemappa Gadad said, so much of public funds have been spent by parliamentary secretaries apart from money spent on their office and staff members. For every parliamentary secretary, government pays salary of ₹ 35,000,house rent of ₹ 80,000,fuel charges of ₹ 75,910, housen maintenance ₹ 20,000 and guest maintenane ₹ 16,666! None of secretaries appointed by the government have done any notable works ever since they assumed charge despite each of them
having one private secretary, two PAs, one steno, two class-2 employees, drivers and other workers under them.

Unfortunately, the secretaries did not respond properly to any of quaries posed to them by Mr Gadad. Several secretaries claim allowances needlessly despite
staying in legislature house. It shows that the government is not bothered about the public money being wasted by its representatives.
