Belagavi: While the local authorities are still struggling to launch Smart City Project works in Belagavi for the past two years, Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi has called upon officials to make a judicious use of funds set aside for the project. At a meeting of SCP advisory committee, the MP urged officials to quickly asphalt bad roads in Ramteerth Nagar besides taking up other major works.

Commissioner of City Corporation, Shashidhar Kurer said, Rs 10 crore funds were being spent on development of Kanbargi and Fort lake. He said, another Rs 150 crore was being spent on laying gas pipelines in the city under SCP. Rs 20.38 crore would be spent on KPTCL-Mandoli Road and another Rs 3.80 crore to be spent on heritage park. According to him, Rs 77 crore will be spent on Smart City Command Centre shortly.

The MP questioned as to why were works not being launched under SCP even after a year and a half. Deputy Commisioner Ziyaulla intervened and said suggestions should be made at the meeting to help take up works.
