Belagavi: As expected, the Belagavi police have granted a conditional approval for the Black Day celebrations to be taken up by an anti-Karnataka outfit of MES in Belagavi city on Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1. The MES will celebrate the day as Black Day in protest against, what it claims, the inclusion of many Marathi-majority areas into Karnataka along the Maharashtra border.

While giving permission to the MES, the police have warned it against organising any programmes or activities in the city during Black Day that could flare up the communal tension, language dispute or any other untoward incidents in the city. The cycle rally which MES takes out on November 1 will begin at Sambhaji Garden in Mahadwar Road and will pass through several areas including Phulbag Galli, Station Road, Shivaji Road, Ramlingkhind Galli, Patil Galli, Shani Mandir, Narvekar Galli and will culminate at Maratha Mandir.
