Belagavi: Bowing down to the protest against the plan of bifurcating Visvesvaraya Technological University, the government would take back the decision on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy told a delegation of a few ministers including Belagavi In-charge minister Satish Jarkiholi and few legislators who met him Tuesday night told them of taking back the decision of bifurcating the university. He is expected to announce the decision in the assembly on Wednesday. The CM, in the budget tabled on Feb 8 had announced about bifurcating the university giving a few branches to Hassan.

Belagavi South BJP MLA Abhay Patil is expected to submit a memorandum to CM on which more than a 50 MLAs from North Karnataka signed opposing the bifurcation attempt.
