Belagavi: The Wholesale Vegetable Vendors Association has urged the government not to restart the closed Wholesale Vegetable Market on Fort road.

Since a few vendors who had shopped at the old market planned to start again shops at the closed market, the administration should not entertain them. The lease of all the vendor’s allotted shops at the old complex is over, the association said, adding the administration at any cost should not reopen the shops for previous business. The association has submitted a memorandum to the district administration on Thursday.

Government has constructed 132 shops at APMC premises at the cost of Rs 25 crore and allotted to those vendors had shopped at Fort road. The government should wisely think the reason behind the demand of reopening the closed shops and stick on to its decision, the association said.
