Belagavi: In an embarrassing situation to defeated legislator Laxman Savadi who surprisingly got a Deputy Chief Minister post must have to work for the victory of disqualified legislator Mahesh Kumathalli by whom he was defeated in the last general election. It was nothing but at his hometown and to the constituency Athani for which he represented four terms.

Savadi who must be elected either to the legislative assembly or legislative council six months of his appointment which ends in the middle of February was expecting a ticket for the by-polls from his Athani constituency. Since Mahesh Kumathalli who has got permission to contest the by-election had announced of not contesting which made Savadi to prepare the ground for him. However, his plan got upside down after Kumathalli agreed to contest.

The BJP high command has instructed Savadi to work for the victory of Kumathalli and clarified him that he would be no more neither the DCM nor a minister, and no ticket to contest next election if the latter is defeated. Savadi who was sidelined from the party activities was worried about his political career and to re-establish his hold in his Lingayat dominated constituency. As Kumathalli is also from the same community he was disappointed much to face the next election.

Now, Savadi has no options than for the victory of his “Opponent” to get protected his DCM position in the government and also for the guarantee of a party ticket in next election. He landed in the big test if Kumathalli wins, he would protect his DCM post but have to wait for the defeat of Kumathalli to get back to his constituency. Since, three years left for the completion of the term of the current assembly, Savadi has no other choice to obey his order.
