Belagavi: Is DCM Laxman Savadi who represented Athani assembly constituency for the last three terms said to betray his own party BJP for his political carrier? Yes, if observed the developments in Athani taluk after disqualified Congress MLA Mahesh Kumathalli was declared BJP candidate.

Savadi’s supporters, at a party meeting in which former CM Jagadish Shettar attended created pandemonium opposing Mahesh Kumathalli’ candidature and said they never work for the person who defeated Savadi. Their anguish never ended that they said they never vote Kumathalli.

Savadi who has not attended the BJP’s welcoming ceremony to the disqualified MLAs has been assigned to work for the victory of Kumathalli and said to be told him that DCM post depended on the victory of Kumathalli. However, Savadi who has lost the last election to Kumathalli is said to be not serious about his DCM post and focussing on his long-term political carrier.

According to sources Savadi wanted Kumathalli to be defeated so that he can get another opportunity to contest from the constituency, if Kumathalli wins, there would be a lack of chances to come back to the main political streamline.

Giving a boost to Savadi’s hidden agenda of defeating Kumathalli, Congress candidate Gajanan Mangasuli touched his feet and sought the blessing before filing his candidature. Though touching feet is common during such a situation, the current condition at Athani giving many meanings. If Congress candidate Mangasuli wins, Savadi can get party ticket to contest the next election, if BJP’s Kumathalli, he has to wait for the defeat of the latter in next election. Defeated politicians want early polls, until their victory.
