Gokak: The Election Commission has filed Election Code of Conduct Violation case against CM Yediyurappa and such another case against Gokak JD(S) candidate Ashok Pujari, with Gokak police.

Election Commission Flying Squad member of Gokak constituency Laxman Alappagol filed a case against the CM, stating that the latter was found appealing Lingayat-Veerashaiva community to vote BJP candidate Ramesh Jarkiholi and another member of the squad Maruti Upper against Pujari for campaigning carrying a “Jangama Jolige” to woo the Lingayats.

Yediyurappa, in his last campaign at Gokak, said to be appealed Lingayats to vote Ramesh Jarkiholi because of his sacrifice he became the CM again.

Pujari, to counter, Yediyurappa’ caste card said that he was not in a position to spend money in the election for which he carries a “Jangama Jolige” (A saffron colour cloth bag) which the mathadishas carry to beg from people for their respective mutts. The Election Commission found a violation of Election Code of Conduct and filed the cases against the duo.
