Belagavi: Gokak BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi who was behind the victories of Athani and Kagwad MLAs Mahesh Kumathalli and Shrimanth Patil, respectively, from Congress and BJP parties in last two elections, has targeted on Belagavi Rural Constituency in the next election. He has pledged to defeat Laxmi and to elect a Marathi linguistic candidate for which he even ready to spend Rs 5 crore.

Addressing a get to gather fest to Hindu youths organised by BJP district co-ordinator Dhananjay Jadhav, at Navage village in Belagavi Rural constituency on Sunday, he said he stood behind the victory of Laxmi in her last election, however, she worked against his family to put-off it politically by bringing outsider to the politician to the district.

Jarkiholi, who was the Congress in-charge of the district during last general election started the campaign with “Mission Dozen” to win 12 of total 18 seats in the district. He was sure of winning Belagavi Rural as Laxmi had campaigned powerfully in the constituency and won the poll by defeating two-time BJP MLA Sanjay Patil by the margin of about 50, 000 votes.

Since Laxmi was said to be distributed gas stoves, cookers etc to the voters, Jarkiholi called people not to take such things in next election. He added that he would spend Rs 5 crore to defeat her and pledge to make a Marathi person as a legislator. Dhananjay Jadhav who unsuccessfully contested in 2013 is trying to contest in next election.
