Belagavi: As the services of the Kolhapur based agency looking after the maintenance of Kote Kere near Fort for the last 7-8 year was not satisfactory, will be changed from April 1. The agency was said to be not maintained of the terms and conditions of the agreement.

At the development review meeting about the city held on Friday at Belagavi City Corporation, MLAs Anil Benake and Abhay Patil, representing Belagavi North and South respectively, instructed the corporation officials to change the agency as it’s work was not satisfactory. The contract of the agency would end on March 31. Both the legislators also took the officials to task over a street light, street dogs, garbage and warned of initiating the action if not got corrected the lapses.

They said about 50% of the street lights are not working, anti-social elements intentionally damaging the street lights, garbage bins are seen overflowing on every road, people are facing a tough time to move on the roads. The list of inconveniences to the people cross unlimited, the legislators said and advised the officials to be get corrected before people raise voice against.

Smart City MD Shashidhar Kurer, who was also on the seat of Belagavi City Corporation Commissioner replied that each and every house has been fixed with RFID Sensor equipment which records the attendance of door-to-door garbage collectors. He said the agency maintaining street light will be ordered to correct the lapsed bulbs and to respond positively to every call. Street dog menace will be curbed shortly, hoteliers will be instructed not to dump cooked-waste at the roadside dumping bins, instead, hand it over to the truckers comes to their business places to collect every day.
